Around Barnsley South – Celebrating Our Local Communities

Around Barnsley South is all about celebrating the people, businesses, places and stories that make our local communities such great places to live, work and visit.

Covering the key areas of Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Platts Common, Blacker Hill, Elsecar, Hemingfield, Jump, Wombwell, Birdwell, Worsbrough Village, Pilley, Pilley Green and Tankersley, Around Barnsley South brings these neighbouring communities together in one dedicated online space.

Each area has its own character and identity. From the busy centres of Hoyland and Wombwell to the heritage of Elsecar, the established communities of Hoyland Common, Jump and Birdwell, and the villages and neighbourhoods of Hemingfield, Blacker Hill, Platts Common, Worsbrough Village, Pilley, Pilley Green and Tankersley, there is so much happening across Barnsley South.

These communities have been shaped by generations of local people and share a proud South Yorkshire heritage. Today, they continue to grow and evolve, supported by independent businesses, schools, sports clubs, charities, community organisations, volunteers and residents who care about where they live.

Around Magazine Online wants Around Barnsley South to become a real hub for the local community.

We want to celebrate everything positive happening across the area – whether that’s a new independent business opening, a local event, a school achievement, grassroots sport, charity fundraising, community projects or simply a local person with a great story to tell.

Supporting local businesses will be at the heart of Around Barnsley South too.

Our towns and villages are filled with fantastic independent shops, tradespeople, restaurants, cafés and professional services. By giving these businesses a platform to reach local residents, we want to encourage more people to shop local, eat local and support local.

For residents, Around Barnsley South will provide an easy way to discover what’s happening nearby, find local businesses and services, hear community news and learn more about the people and organisations making a difference.

Most importantly, we want the community to get involved.

If you’re in Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Platts Common, Blacker Hill, Elsecar, Hemingfield, Jump, Wombwell, Birdwell, Worsbrough Village, Pilley, Pilley Green or Tankersley, Around Barnsley South is for you.

Your community. Your businesses. Your stories.

Welcome to Around Barnsley South – bringing our local communities together online.
