A remarkable new chapter in specialist children’s care has begun in Hoyland with the opening of Church View Children’s Place.

Founded by local Barnsley entrepreneur Eddie Riby and his wife, Louise, the purpose-built specialist children’s home has been created through the transformation of a former adult care home into a state-of-the-art facility for children with disabilities and complex needs. Believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, Church View Children’s Place represents not only a significant milestone for its founders but also a major investment in the future of local children and their families.
To mark the official opening, the team welcomed the local community to a special Open Day, where visitors met Eddie and Louise Riby, along with the dedicated professionals who have helped bring their vision to life. Guests had a guided look around the exceptional facilities, discover the home’s unique approach to specialist care, and learn more about the positive difference it aims to make in the lives of the children and families it will support.
Coinciding with Yorkshire Day celebrations, the event also featured live entertainment from The Yorkshire Military Band, making it a fitting occasion to celebrate an inspiring new addition to the Barnsley community.
